Right now, I happen to be sat on my soft bed at home, listening to Christmas music while I check up on my friends, it almost hard to believe that the last 24 hours have been hell on earth, for myself and my mother, all because of the snow! I was supposed to go home yesterday from Uni, you see. My mother was supposed to pick me up in the car. However this never happened as my mum was stuck on M25 for almost 4 hours trying to get through the traffic that had piled up just because of a jackknifed lorry blocking the lanes. I couldn't believe it once I logged onto the traffic reports on the internet. There were accidents everywhere and the things my mother told me when she finally arrived at my house at University were amazing. People were actually abandoning their cars to walk because they had run out of petrol. A lot of people were struggling up the snow filled banks just to go to the toilet, sometimes risking losing their car as the traffic moved slightly. It was amazing to listen to the stories and I am filled with amazement at how the country comes to a complete standstill all because of snow that happens to be an thicker than usual. I don't understand what goes through peoples minds when they think about last year and don't cotton on to the fact that this is going to be a regular occurrence now because the planet is deteriorating slightly. Well, once my mother had spent the night in my student home, where she had the bed and I had the floor with just a blanket and a sleeping bag to keep me company, we made our way home very early in the morning. And once we got into our home town I couldn't believe my eyes. I felt as if we had just driven into the secret land of Narnia (of course that's what I'd imagine it would look like if you could just drive to Narnia). It would have been almost magical if that thick, sparkling white stuff hadn't prevented me from coming home a day earlier than I did. But as much as I hate the world-stopping snow, when I look out of my window and onto the road, I find it so beautiful, it's almost breathtaking.
My dear readers, I have to say, with Christmas lights, music, presents under the tree and snow, it is now officially Christmas. All we need is the smell of turkey and stuffing to permeate the air and I am sure we will all be transported to a living heaven, one that last a few, blissful, carefree days.
And with that I will leave you with a piece of advice. If you do need to drive on the roads, please be careful, drive slowly and try and drive in the morning, when the sun is just coming up and there are no cars on the road. You will be set if you do this, trust me. Happy Snow Days.
