Plans

So, Christmas is over and the food has been eaten, presents opened and wrapping paper binned .... and it all feels so anti-climactic don't you think? There may be some amazing presents that are still waiting to be played but all of that organisation and planning is suddenly over and we're back to normal. At least for a couple of day anyway. And then New Year plans arrive.
Many people get excited about New Year, making resolutions, dinner plans for the evening and bookings to see fireworks in London. I don't see it as a big deal at all. A New Year is just that ... a new year. And no matter how many resolutions people make they're all broken by February, the hangovers last for three days with a splitting headache causing us to spend the first few days of the new year in bed, and then it just goes back to normality. Nothing changes and oh, how I wish it did. Sometimes I dream about my life as a book, like Harry Potter, with a plot, a destination and something different and exciting happening to me with every turn of the page. It's amazing how mundane life can actually be when you close a book. And then you see people running off to do daring, spontaneous things that you knew you would never be able to do in your lifetime because you're too poor, too busy, too normal, or just too ... too. It's a hard life and the new year doesn't change that. The new year is just the 31st of December turning into the 1st of January, just like the 30th of September turns into the 1st of October .... it's not the day that's new, it's the person who experiences the turn of the months.
People think the new year will bring a change, a big revelation. What brings that is themselves, and if they're too lazy to go and get what they want, then they will be forever disappointed ... I promise, I will not be one of those people !!! I swear to it!
